American Politiks
I really like this Obama speech that he gave recently..
Even if you are an American who is oppossed to him, listen to his ideas and see if you disagree with them..
I certainly hope he gets a chance as President. We need it, imo.

Re: American Politiks
I hope he becomes the next US president too. The US President affects the whole world, especially here in the Middle East. So American politics is of interest to many of us here.

Re: American Politiks
electing MacCain would not lead to much change at all, it would be like another 4 years of Bush. i really hope the American people is smart enough to elect Obama, for their own good. you cant repair a situation with this with tax cuts, even bushes advisors seems to have started to understand that.

Re: American Politiks
Actually, Obama's tax increase would only be for 5 percent of US citizens. Anyone making 250,000 or more a year. 95 percent of us would either have less taxes or no taxes under his proposals.
Which works for me!
Let alone, it's about time for some National Healthcare, which he also proposes, so that's another plus in my book.

Re: American Politiks
if he can do that then he is a very smart man. in scandinavia we have some of the highest taxes in the democratic part of the world. but we also top the UNs lists over best place to live, together with canada who chime in now and then.
if obama can give you healthcare and all the other stuff we take for granted over here, without reaching our tax levels then all i have to say is congratulations....

Re: American Politiks
indeed. Although we do actually have pretty high taxes, only a little bit less than you.. and We get pretty much nothing for it. elf
Re: American Politiks
thats because
A) your whole country is built around the car, if somebody is going for a long ride in sweden they take the train or the buss... (bye bye oil) and railways costs alot less to sustain then motorways...
this also makes the trains alot nicer then in alot of other counties, we have 1rst class and stuff on them
B) you keep declaring war on everybody, you are probably the oen country in the world that spends most tax money on stuff that goes on outside your borders

Re: American Politiks
Bingo. I know, I 've also hated how this country, especially in the
West, is built around the Automobile. You can't get around to well
without one, which is annoying and expensive.

Re: American Politiks
in sweden, as long as you aren't a plummer or some other trade that drives around between houses all day, the only time you need a car is if you are drunk and you have missed the buss, but then you can always call a cab

Re: American Politiks
yea, I hear it is the same in Germany. Although for me, I am a tradesman, so I would still need a van most likely, in those climates.
Re: American Politiks
well yeah, most swedes that don't work in the city center of a bigger town end up getting a car... especially if they get kids...

Re: American Politiks
i can't wait til the elections are over with. man oh man, it is tiring. the country;s getting robbed blind by the government/corporate owners of the government.. so we have plenty of other things to deal with, that's for sure.
Re: American Politiks
well who ever wins will have his hands tied for atleast a year, the bailout will really cut down on his budget.
i would have liked to see what had happened if obama had runned earlier and had been elected instead of bush, then he would have had that big surplus that clinton left, instead of the huge debts bush has created.

Re: American Politiks
yea.. we just got robbed for the second time with that bail out, it shows who is really in power, in my opinion. I hope Obama throws some of those corporate thieves in jail. That right there would help boost consumer confidence.
Re: American Politiks
interesting points. Though I think we have alot more issues that just one man can solve in a few years. we need alot of change in all levels of government and I think mainly we need a spiritual revolution. Absolute greed and Powerhunger has taken over the USA. The dollar has become the new god, and people are just expendable assets for ataining more profits.

Re: American Politiks
woah.
Is that Mcbush?
What about Hillbama?
McCain seems like a nice guy, but I don't see how he's gonna pull this election off at this point, that's for sure.
So it looks like the scary Communist, Socialist, Terrorism supporter is gonna be President, which is fine with me, cause he I know he ain't known of that. haha.
...that was my good English, btw.

Re: American Politiks
I don't think McCain is a "bad" person...I just don't think he really understands the current times unless it involves war. He definitely does not understand the future of the world...Watching him in tonight's debate, the last one thankfully, I felt like...
On Palin...
As far as a need for spiritual enlightenment, this country definitely needs some, but I don't look to my political and economic advisers for that. I look within myself and my spiritual leaders for that.
