Re: true blood
yeah, louisiana, especially new orleans is vampire country... what many modern authors fail to see is that it would make every single one but the very most ancient ones, and the newest, pretty redneck... this is the first vampire series so far i have taken that into consideration .

Not necessarily. Lousiana was predominantly French for a long time and is still today
(hence the name, named after King Louis of Fence) and also filled with many Jamaican peoples, even today it's not really
considered that "redneck" of an area. But yea, there are still a minority
of those types there.
Re: true blood
I saw a 30 minute preview of it at this year's Comic Con, seemed interesting, though my interest in vampires has waned after reading countless raunchy vampire love stories in my teen years...and I don't have HBO, so eh.

jepp thats how anne rice solved it, the main characters are french and go to sleep before Lousiana anglicized/ don't wake up until modern usa.
well maybe not redneck, but still hillbillys... at least on the countryside and this series is so far limited to non urbanized areas

Re: true blood
One of the last vampire novels I remember reading was the first two books of the Twilight series...ugh, fluffy, happy, lovely-dovey vampire teens.
Re: true blood
isn't that the one thats behind that new crappy looking movie thats coming out?
i never read that kind of crappy teen literature... well some but only the ones that the whole class had to read now and then. i started reading Tolkien when i was 10, after that looking in the youth section at the library was something i frowned upon
i do still read vampire novels though, right now "the vampyre - the secret history of lord byron"

Re: true blood
haha.. yea.. it looks crappy.
I enjoy the old fashioned, non romantic bloodsuckers, myself. Nosferatu style.
Shadow of the Vampire is my favorite vampire movie... Willem Defoe plays Nosferatu.

Re: true blood
Indeed. Good Vampire movie within a Vampire movie.
Concerning Twilight, just remember that the books are always better than the movies, and yeah...no good.

Re: true blood
I don't know, my faux husband/big, tall buddy that protects me from perverted old men is gay and he wouldn't even finish the first book nor does he have any desire to see the movie...though, he could be a closet fan...

Re: true blood
*it always cracks me up when any guy (gay or not) refers to another guy as hot, good-looking, attractive, fine, handsome, dapper, well-assembled or any other word or phrase that physically compliments another guy*ecthelion of the fountain wrote:hehe i see what ash means... the dude that plays the vampire is hot in the trailer...
The dude playing Edward is fairly attractive, but remembering how much of a sparkly lame-o his character is rather lessens the hotness for me. I can't speak for my gay hubby, I've not asked him about that.
Re: true blood
i find plenty of guys attractive, but no guy has ever turned me on so i'm pretty sure i'm not gay. other people seem to think so though, i don't know what it is but when ever i go to a club i get hit on by guys
