If this was the only song to ever emerge from German metal, it would probably still be my favorite metal country. This one song encapsulates just about everything that makes the very heart of heavy metal great. Balanced melodicism and aggression. Anthemic escapism promoting individuality, fight, freedom. Allegory. Skill with heavy dynamism; i.e. well placed changing of tempos and root notes. Most of all, it gets down into your heart and soul and makes you feel. There are only a few other songs like this that I can think of that not only have all of these, but also excel greatly to a place of *defining* what the feeling is. Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell is one of them. This is Running Wild - Riding the Storm.

I like plenty of german metal.. but I just don't listen to metal much anymore.

The only kind of metal I can get into nowadays is metal that doesn't sound like metal... if you know what I mean.
